- This is for Showa Students Thursday 2nd period, Fall 2008.
Podcasting is similar to Internet radio. In teams, we discuss, write and record three short podcasts (3-5 minutes) on social, political, or cultural topics about Japan that are of interest to listeners abroad. We create teams of three, with one director (manager, technician), one writer (researcher) and one announcer. For three weeks this team works together to make a podcast on one topic. Each three weeks the teams are mixed, and students do one of the other two jobs. Each week there is a short quiz at the beginning of class on the current issue. Final Exam is a short 3-minute individual interview with the teacher. All podcasts will be put online for access by the world.
- From Catalogue description:
This is a 12-week simulation of a training session for an international business. You are recruited, and placed in this training course to prepare you for an overseas assignment. You will form a team with two other people for one month. During that month you will work on business communication basics. The team is evaluated and then new teams reform for the next month, technical communication. Then reformed teams do another month of discussion and meeting skills for face to face meetings. At the end you are assigned to a specific place in the world depending on your skills. The best jobs go to the most qualified. Being able to speak clearly and simply in a business or technical situation is the goal of this course.
