Remember the Titans based on true story. In
1971, there were discrimination between white and black people in Virginia.
American people tried to understand each other however it was still big problem.
In this movie we can see people swear at each other . They swear about their
skin color, lineage, and so on.
First, this movie is “Friendship” story
with playing American football that loved by American people very much. This movie’s main point
is “Discrimination” . This movie starts
one school which are only white students go this school unify with only black
school. Beginning day white and black students avoid each other. And always
gather around same color people. Even they play American football they couldn’t
be a real team mate. Moreover they often fought. But, they noticed color
has no meaning with playing American football and they could be real friends.
After graduated from the school their friendship was continued. *Clark,
J.F. said “He who believes is strong; he who doubts is weak strong convictions
precede great actions.”
Second, there were wonderful actors. Main actor was
Denzel Washington. He acted coach of this team. He is black, otherwise he
always try to do equality between white and black. He acted a brilliant performance
like a real American football team coach. He is what is called a strict coach
but he taught not only how to play American football but also taught about
what a person should be. There were one more coach his name is Will Patton.
His performance was also very great. His character was symmetrical with Denzel
Washington. First , Will Patton couldn’t accept a Denzel Washington but his
kind and passionate character accepted Denzel Washington and black students
a little by little. And Wood
Harris, he is a black reader of this team. He often opposed to Ryan Hurst
who is reader of white team. Their performance was very powerful so I was
attracted by them. When they became a best friend this team changed to great
team. *Collins, Marva said “Success doesn’t come
to you…. You go to it.”
Third, this movie was also loved by Japanese
people. The response of the movie was different. Screen world nominated the
Golden satellite Award to Denzel Washington. His performance was evaluated
very well. I checked one of page of Internet, the page did questionnaire
and 86,30% people like this movie . Reason why who love this movie is they
felt prejudice and discrimination is big
problem but this problem soluble. And some people felt not only color and
but also various discrimination and prejudice was
effected by parents and so on. Having our say is
one of famous book in the U.S.A written by Emily Mann. She wrote about discrimination. On
the other hand, some people couldn’t identify themselves with this movie.
Because, in fact discrimination
and prejudice are more difficult and serious problem in the world
still now. It was too easy to solve these problems in this movie. Anyway,
friendship of miracle solved a problem by their hearts.
All things considered, Discrimination
is not easy problem but if we hope to solve these problems, we could do it.
This movie has many good actors whose performance moved us to tears. And
many people loved this movie , they could learn about many things from this
movie
