Mickey Mouse’s face & frame
Mickey Mouse is adorable, and
he is popular with children and adults now. However has he been cute like
what he is now since the time of debut? He changed physically till he became
present figure. His ears, eyes and frame are different in each day. I will
tell you about his face and frame in his debut day, the 30s, the 40s and
today
Mickey Mouse made his debut
at the “Steamboat Willie” on November eighteenth 1928. At that
time he had the two black elliptical eyes. His limbs were slender, and his
tail was longer than now. Moreover he was monochrome in those days. Mickey
at “Plane Crazy” in same year is his original form. He had the large eye
sockets and oblong snout.
In 30s, Mickey Mouse changed
variously. First, his eyes became Pie-Cut. It has cutting deep into the eyes
to express the bright of them. However the eyes of the type changed at “The
Pointer” in 1939. This is present style of him. Next his body became such
a slender shape as a pear. These two changes are to make his expression rich.
The early 1940s was the
beginning of Mickey Mouse’s decline. He was given perspective ears with shadow
by animators. Moreover he had the eyebrows. That is to say, he has been given
a three-dimensional. Also the eye sockets have been introduced again, and
the tail has been not as long as the time of debut shortened. “His tail actually
disappeared during World WarⅡ.”
Mickey Mouse repeated physical
variation thus. Present Mickey has wider temples; “there are more room between
his eyes and his ears.” His eyes of ellipses also have narrow, and the distance
between his ear and one has been wide. Moreover his nose has become large.
You will find the difference if you compare today’s Mickey with what he was
before. Especially his face at the time of debut is vividly different by
comparison with him at the present.
