Thinking with the Computer

A course for learning English, computer skills and thinking styles

People that use computers often use methods of thinking that are not common among other people. We will explore 5 of these different ways of thinking. The goal of this course is to show you that there are different ways of thinking about any subject, and that computers can help you to think.

Some people may argue that this is not an English course. This is a content course, but also taught in English. So we are learning three things at the same time; English, computers and thinking styles.

I have chosen five ways that computer users think differently.

Instructions for Final Project

Watch a video of Kevin introducing the course.

We will work with each of these sections for two weeks. There is some kind of task at the end of each module that you will have to send to your teacher (either by email or handing it in). There is an idea for a final project at the end of each module. You will chose ONE module to work on for your final project. So there will be 6 grades for this course, one for each module (15% each) and the final project (25%).

Class time will be for demonstrations that will help you do each module. Most of the time in class will be individual work, with the teacher available for questions.

Choose one of the 5 modules to see what they are about.
